3.Juror Qualification Rulings

THE COURT: For the record, I have given consideration to the State's request and the Defense request and Mr. Alvira caused me concern after qualified. As I was gathering information from him, from the Clerk's office, I guess his personal behavior leaving the Court House, very emotional and crying and loud. That sort of thing. I am going to disqualify him from my own concern. I had concern before the State said anything. And so I am going to excuse him so he will be removed from the list but he will come in the courtroom. Additionally, Mr. Turner, the pastor, I have concerns about him not being forthcoming and likewise will grant the motion to find him not qualified. So he will come off the list. Ms. Jordan, I am going to leave her as is, we will go forward with that as it is. Alvira, my concerns personally, I am very candid with y'all. That one, his whole demeanor was different than anyone else's, the way he talked. He is not qualified and the Reverend, I guess he is a Reverend, because of the, the way the question was written, he could have said it or could not have said it. The fact is, that is a pretty big investigation. That is going to cause me concern on that too so he is off. As I understand it, we now have a list with two removed, all 50 are here. We will go through the process, exercise our strikes on the paper, hear any motions post-strike or Batson or whatever we may need to take up. And once we get that done we will bring the panel in here, in person, and call up the ones who are remained for the jury. And we will take as many alternates as we can get. So, we end up with three or four that is fine, I don't have a certain mental number. Any questions?
