5.Post-Verdict Jury Admonition and Penalty-Phase Instructions

THE COURT: All right. We've received the verdict. As I explained to you during jury qualifications, it's a two-step process. A requirement under the statute is to have a delay of an entire day before we start phase two. Now, I gave you instructions consequence of any verdict wasn't to be discussed or decided in those -- that is exactly what y'all should have done. I want y'all back in the jury room at 8:45 Thursday morning. That's this afternoon, all day tomorrow down, back Thursday. Until then, same rules apply. No more discussing the case with one another. No more discussing the case period. I'd like your notebooks. Close them, leave them here. We're going to put them in a box for you, keep them. Whether we start new notebooks for the second phase or not, I've not decided yet. I know y'all got a bunch -- y'all know whose is what, so we can sort that out Thursday morning early if we need to, okay. So do not discuss the case, do not take an interview with anybody, don't do any research on social media, anything. Leave it alone, relax. Y'all have had a tough task, a long three weeks. I told you it'll be okay. So with that being said, thanks for your hard work. The alternate jurors, thank y'all for y'all's patience. See y'all Thursday morning. Anything else I'm leaving out?

Now, we're going to come over and get the evidence that's in there, reorganize it and put it back in here. So that will be done. Y'all can get your stuff organized. Do we have a box for their notebooks we can get. We'll collect those and they'll be locked up, too, okay. Step back in the jury room, get ready to go. She'll meet you downstairs.
