RICK HUBBARD: Sheriff.
CHARLIE CRUMPTON: Yes, sir.
RICK HUBBARD: We've talked about all your experience with other drugs, and since this incident you've had other dealings with spice, correct?
CHARLIE CRUMPTON: We have.
RICK HUBBARD: That evening on the 7th did you see red flags, based on your experience, about mental health?
CHARLIE CRUMPTON: No, sir. We're in a rural county and all. In fact, all States may be this way, but the sheriff ends up with a -- with commitments from mental health. We end up having to handle those people. That's our job. We get an order from our Chancery Court system. And so, we handle a lot of mentally ill patients. We do.
RICK HUBBARD: And you didn't see that that night?
CHARLIE CRUMPTON: No, sir. I didn't see that.
RICK HUBBARD: What you saw from Mr. Jones when you mentioned Nahtahn, was it just that time when you mispronounced the name or was it every time that you brought up Nahtahn?
CHARLIE CRUMPTON: He really got angry and, and it may have, you know, he got angry every time that, even if I pronounced that name right, that triggered something in him in my opinion. But I saw that every time that little Nahtahn's -- I think he was six-years-old. I believe he's a six-year-old. Every time his name was mentioned.
RICK HUBBARD: And that's what caused your concern about if one of them was dead?
CHARLIE CRUMPTON: It really did. That concerned me a lot.
RICK HUBBARD: Thank you, Sheriff. Thank you so much.
