RICK HUBBARD: So Lieutenant Pressley did not interrogate Mr. Jones, didn't say tell me what happened that night when you killed these kids or anything like that?
BENJAMIN BOYD: No, he didn't.
RICK HUBBARD: He didn't say, tell me about the crime you're charged with?
BENJAMIN BOYD: No, he didn't.
RICK HUBBARD: Everything that came out of Mr. Jones' mouth came out of his mouth because he just started talking?
BENJAMIN BOYD: Was pretty much voluntarily, because in MSU most of us -- we never ask anybody what they did or what did they do. We try to treat everybody the same when they're back there because it's kind of like a dangerous area.
RICK HUBBARD: What you heard Mr. Jones say -- do you recall him saying he killed his son?
BENJAMIN BOYD: Uh-huh.
RICK HUBBARD: And is that?
COURT REPORTER: Is that a yes?
RICK HUBBARD: Is that a yes or no?
BENJAMIN BOYD: Yes.
RICK HUBBARD: And is that the son that was messing with the outlet?
BENJAMIN BOYD: Yes.
RICK HUBBARD: How did he say he killed that son?
BENJAMIN BOYD: He just had his hands up. With his bare hands.
RICK HUBBARD: With his bare hands?
BENJAMIN BOYD: Yeah.
RICK HUBBARD: You mentioned something about a daughter, too. Did he talk about killing her?
BENJAMIN BOYD: He said she -- I heard the part where she said -- he said that she came in the room while he was doing it.
RICK HUBBARD: Okay. And did he say anything about -- or did you hear the part about where he went and got her, or did you leave at that time?
BENJAMIN BOYD: I turned around and I was noticing -- there was something else going on behind me --
RICK HUBBARD: Okay.
BENJAMIN BOYD: -- And I turned around and I was checking on something else. Then when I turned back around, you know, they was just sitting there talking.
RICK HUBBARD: All right. Lieutenant Pressley was there that whole time?
BENJAMIN BOYD: Yeah, he was -- he was there.
RICK HUBBARD: So anything about the daughter, he'd be the one to ask about that?
BENJAMIN BOYD: Yes.
RICK HUBBARD: Thank you.
THE COURT: Anything else?
REDIRECT EXAMINATION By Mr. Madsen:
ROBERT MADSEN: You just said that Tim was talking and Lieutenant Pressley walked up and asked him what happened?
BENJAMIN BOYD: He came in the middle of the conversation as he was talking about the escort. He didn't -- he didn't ask him a question about what he did or how he did. He came and asked us what -- what were we talking about.
ROBERT MADSEN: Okay. Did you tell the Solicitor's Office on April 3rd that Pressley asked what happened?
RICK HUBBARD: That's asked and answered. He's already answered that.
BENJAMIN BOYD: I did.
ROBERT MADSEN: I think that's in redirect.
THE COURT: I'll let him clarify, because I think he's--
RICK HUBBARD: All right.
THE COURT: -- I think he has answered, but I want to hear it --
RICK HUBBARD: Yes, sir.
THE COURT: -- hear it again.
ROBERT MADSEN: That's what you told the Solicitor's Office is that Pressley asked what happened?
BENJAMIN BOYD: What happened with the escort. It wasn't about what happened with the murder.
ROBERT MADSEN: That's all the questions I have.
RICK HUBBARD: I have no further questions, Your Honor.
THE COURT: All right. You may step down.
BENJAMIN BOYD: Okay. (Whereupon, the witness stepped down from the witness stand).
